PHOTO ASSIGNMENTS – #2 LOW ANGLE PHOTOGRAPHY

It’s time to reveal my pictures for the second photo assignment by Ted Forbes, you can find his video explaining this assignment in detail here.

For this assignment I went to C-Mine in Genk. This is a wonderful place to experience the Limburgish mining heritage. More recently Gijs Van Vaerenbergh – 2 Belgian architects – built an amazing piece of architectural art called “Labyrint” – which (obviously) means “labyrinth” in Dutch. I decided to combine these two elements to create something almost surreal.

The following pictures have nothing to do with the assignment but I do quite like them so here they are.

And finally, a picture of me trying to find my way out of this labyrinth…

Photo Assignments

A few days ago I stumbled upon the “The Art of Photography” channel on youtube. This is where I found a video on photo assignments. Ted Forbes (the guy behind this channel) states that the only way to improve your photography is to push yourself by challenging your skills. A few months ago he introduced photo assignments to his channel and I’ve decided to follow along.

In his introductory video for the assignments he also gives the first assignments, “Something you Love”. I’ve picked my dog – Maurice the french bulldog – as my subject. Ted also instructs to keep a photographer’s sketchbook. This is a book in which you’ll put all your pictures and it’s a way to be able to draw on your photos and comment on them.

Here’s the result of the initial assignment.
